Vanston Place

Situated in the heart of Fulham Broadway, the Vanston Place development consists of several blocks of flats arranged over three floors.

TRC were appointed by Chas Berger to survey, remove, manufacture and install over 700 traditional box sash windows in this charming housing estate which was built circa 1922 by the Samuel Lewis Housing Trust.

Achieving optimal performance

The project consisted of replacing windows while ensuring that the highest energy efficiency, security and ventilation standards we all met. These included:

– Design wind load: 2000 Pa
– U-value maximum of 1.4 W/m²K or better
– Water tightness of 200 Pa (Class 5A)
– Tested to Enhanced Security PAS24(2016)
– Build in concealed trickle vents of Free Area 4511 (mm²)

The project

The overall window replacement project included the following:

The new traditional Box Sash windows installed were matched with the original style and proportions, shape, glazing bar size and placement, overall glazing patterns, opening methods and materials and finishes.

All ground floor and easily accessible sash windows and doors were supplied as PAS 24: 2016 certified.

To meet energy efficiency standards, it was ensured that all replacement windows had a U-value of 1.4 calculated by the standards of EN ISO 10077-1:2006. The lower the U-value the lower the energy loss (typically, new sash windows should achieve a U-value of 1.6 W/m2⋅K or lower).

Lastly, ventilation was provided via controllable Titon XS16 4600EA trickle ventilators, dependent on the width of the frame.
